Your first stop in Wales is Hay on Wye, the ‘town of books’, nestled just to the north of the Brecon Beacons National Park, and then through the heart of the Cambrian Mountains to the beautiful Elan Valley before arriving in the coastal town of Aberystwyth where you will spend the next 2 nights.
Day 2 Today you will explore the wonderful mountain scenery of Snowdonia National Park including the beautiful village of Beddgelert and its historic copper mine. From the mountains we travel to the sea and two wonderful castles at Criccieth and Harlech, taking a fascinating coastal route between the two. You will return to Aberystwyth in late afternoon. Your British travel guru was right, Wales is magical.
Day 3 Leaving Aberystwyth we travel around the coast of Cardigan Bay to New Quay with a sandy harbor, whitewashed houses, and connections to Dylan Thomas. This town is one of the most picturesque and interesting little towns in Britain. What’s more, is you may be lucky enough to spot dolphins and whales. Turning inland again, we go looking for gold at the Dolaucothi mine, dating back to Roman times. Next we visit Castle Cennen on the edge of the Black Mountains before we head for the coast again at Laugharne where Dylan Thomas wrote “Under Milk Wood”. From here it’s a short distance to Tenby, your base for 2 nights.
Day 4 Today is spent in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park birthplace of both the patron saint of Wales, St David, and the Tudor royal dynasty. The first stop will be the town of Pembroke itself with its fabulous castle, thyen we head for the tiny cathedral city of St Davids. In the afternoon the tour follows the coast to Strumble Head and on to the Presili Hills, source of the blue stones of Stonehenge. From here we return once more to Tenby.
Day 5 Leaving Tenby we travel to the outskirts of Cardiff for a visit to the outdoor National Museum of History at St Fagans. After a quick tour of modern Cardiff Bay we head back in time to the Roman Fortress at Caerleon. From here you leave Wales behind and cross back into England. We are proud to be a British travel agency located here in the U.S. that can assist with your discovery of Wales! Your final stop will be in the pretty Cotswold village of Castle Combe (Dr. Doolittle) before arriving back into central London by around 7.30pm.
