Your home base is the spectacular Dromoland Castle. You will spend four nights here. Before it became a luxury hotel, Dromoland Castle saw almost 400 years as the ancestral home of the O’Brien clan. Now it is the elegant, formal dining room and the book lined bar where guest often settle after dinner to join in the singing of popular Irish ballads. The sumptuous, ornate drawing room is an ideal haven for morning coffee and afternoon tea. Up the grand staircase are found the hotel’s premier rooms and luxurious suites and a portrait gallery of past incumbents of the estate. Smaller cozy room are located round a courtyard in the castle’s oldest part (1736) and have the same lavish amenities: robes, slippers, masses of toiletries, fruit bowl, and a decanter of Irish Mist. Fishing, horse riding, and bird shooting can be arranged nearby, and tennis court and Dromoland’s golf course are here for you to use.
Day 1 ARRIVE SHANNON When the night sky around you begins to lighten, peer down through the clouds from the windows of your transatlantic jet. IRELAND! Your first scent of the magic Emerald Isle is upon arrival at Shannon International Airport. Your car and driver will drive you to spectacular Dromoland Castle. You may never want to leave, but we have some interesting ay trips planned, too
Day 2 CLIFFS OF MOHER/DOOLIN Behold the power of the Cliffs of Moher. Travel along the majestic Cliffs of Moher, soaring an awe-inspiring 700 feet above the breaking sea. Stop in the fishing village of Doolin. It is said that three of the best musical pubs in Ireland are here. From here you can explore the spectacular Burren region, see ancient dolmens and stone circles.
Day 3 BUNRATTY/ADARE Today you will travel to the medieval village of Bunratty. Bunratty's main attraction is the 13th century Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. The Folk Park recreates rural and urban life in 19th century Victorian Ireland. Here you can watch demonstrations of how life was carried out in these times. Then, spend some time in Adare. Adare is a quaint picturesque village lined with traditional thatched-roof cottages, beautiful stone buildings, medieval monasteries and ruins. Snuggled in a wooden and lush countryside setting, Adare is widely regarded as being Ireland's prettiest and most unique village. Medieval banquet this evening.
Day 4 TOUR OF YOUR CHOICE GALWAY OR KILLALOE Galway is one of the most interesting of Irish towns with its narrow winding lanes, antique shops and quaint pubs. ANother good choice - the riverside village of Kilalloe, which is connected by Killaloe Bridge to the "twin town" of Ballina on the eastern bank of the lake. Killaloe was the birthplace of Ireland's famous High King, Brian Boru.
Day 5 HOMEWARD The trip comes to a close too soon as you are transferred to Shannon Airport for your return flight.
